Baalti Gosht Recipe
This style of food is thought to originate from the Pakistani region of Baltistan in Kashmir, from where it was brought by South Asian immigrants to Britain.
Ingredients
- Beef or Mutton 1/2 kg

Ginger/garlic paste 2 tsp

Crushed pepper corns 1 tbsp

Tomatoes 250 grams

Coriander seeds 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Hot spices powder 1 tsp

Yogurt 1 cup

Green chillies 6

Coriander leaves 1 bunch

Cream 2 tbsp

Ginger 1 inch piece

Oil 1 cup
Cooking Directions
- Finely slice ginger and coriander leaves.
- Thickly cut green chillies.
- Heat oil in a pot and add ginger/garlic paste.
- When it starts to give fragrance, add meat and on a low flame cook for 1/2 an hour.
- When meat becomes tender add yogurt, tomatoes, whole coriander seeds and turmeric powder,fry well.
- When oil appears on the surface add cream, crushed peppercorns, ginger, hot spices, coriander leaves and green chillies.
- Turn off the flame, delicious Baalti Gosht is ready.
- Serve with ‘naans’.
